Construction of a washing water treatment plant
The new HGV washing plant is equipped with a modern wastewater treatment and water recycling system. 98% of the contaminated water is collected after the washing process and re-treated.
Within the scope of sustainability, biogas production from the organic substances in the washing water replaces or substitutes fossil energy carriers. This results in the avoidance or reduction of CO2 emissions and therefore to an improved corporate carbon footprint.
With this, the sustainability concept is also passed on to the area of water utilisation.

Conversion of the HGV fleet to hydrogen drive
The Venneker Group plans to convert its vehicle fleet to hydrogen drive gradually. In the long-term, we strive to convert 50 HGVs.
Our HGVs are driven on average 140,000 km per year and vehicle.
In the future, we plan to dimension an electrolyser (1.5 MW). With this, it could generate some 129,000 kg hydrogen per year, operated in an economically sound manner. Replacing diesel fuel would avoid us emissions of up to 1,051 t CO2/year. During the further course of the project, we plan to convert up to 50 HGVs to fuel cell drives by 2030. This includes the upgrading of the electrolyser for the generation of approx. 700,000 g hydrogen whilst applying certified green electricity, local biogas plants, PV capacities and, as applicable further planned wind power plants in the surrounding municipalities.
